Time and Talent Thank You: Smart Lunch, Smart Kid

The Smart Lunch, Smart Kid summer lunch program and Action Ministries wants to thank you for your participation, your leadership, and your compassion for your fellow community members by taking ACTION this summer and giving your time to volunteer with us.

Because of dedicated volunteers like you, Smart Lunch, Smart Kid has been able to serve almost 25,000 meals to over 400 children in nine of our local communities where it would be difficult for them to access a summer feeding site on foot or by public transportation.

Time-and-talent efforts enabled UUFA to contributed 600 peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches to be placed in 600 lunches.

By partnering with The Clarke-County School District’s Seamless Summer program, The Food bank of Northeast Georgia’s Food to Kids 365 weekend meal distribution, and generous faith-based, civic, and private food donors, our communities’ children were provided with nutritious, dependable, daily meals.

In addition to nourishing the bodies of these precious, growing children, you also helped us provide 700 hours of enrichment activities that focused on physical activity, food nutrition, safety awareness, literacy, STEM activities, responsible citizenship, social and emotional education, and distribute over 500 books.

If you would like information about how you can become more involved in The Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program year-round, please contact Beth Deroshia at ederoshia@actionministries.net

Again, thank you so much for giving your time and energy to Smart Lunch, Smart Kid this summer and making a difference in our community.
