Hank Houser of Houser Walker Architects presented a nearly-final project plan at the Town Hall congregational meeting following the service on Sunday, August 28. The more than 80 members of the congregation who attended discussed and praised this UUFA master plan, as the architects call it.
The floor plan for renovated and expanded spaces essentially touches everything in the building and adds over 3,000 square feet of new construction, plus up to 60 additional seats in the Sanctuary. In addition to expanded parking, long a priority, the site plans show a new entrance from Cheatham Road.
The most exciting aspect of the presentation was the 3D imagery of the entire campus and the new front entrance with its glass wall, clerestory windows and new entrance plaza.
Members and friends of the congregation will receive several of these images plus a full description through the mail in early September.
The goal of the Expanding Our Vision project is to create new spaces and make existing spaces more functional to support UUFA’s incredibly active community.
Barry Finkelstein, UUA consultant, will visit September 18 – 22 to conduct the Financial Feasibility Study. This study will help us determine what we should set as the Capital Campaign goal to fund the building project. Another Town Hall is scheduled for October 16 when the results of the study and the capital campaign will be discussed.
So lots going on and more to come!
