The Typical Sunday Morning Schedule

When you arrive at UUFA, please find the Religious Exploration (RE) Sign-in table in the lobby, and sign your child in to class so our teachers know how many children to expect. Once registered, you will find your child’s name printed on the attendance sheet.

Children’s RE (Grades PreK-5)

RE classes for this age level take place during the 11 am service (or 10:30 am service during the summer). Children gather with their parents in the sanctuary to enjoy the first 15 minutes of worship together and then “sing out” to their religious education program or childcare activities from 11:15 am -12:15 pm. Parents are asked to please pick up their children promptly at 12:15 pm. There are no RE classes at 9 am, though childcare is available as needed. Children are encouraged to stay in the Sanctuary during all-ages worship services.

Youth Group & Coming of Age (CoA)6-12th Grades

Youth meet together in the Youth Room on and the Second Sundays from 11 am – 12:30 pm  and on Fourth Sundays from 12:30 – 2 pm.

During the 2017-18 program year, we offered the following classes:

9 am Service

There is no religious education during this time, however, children through age 6 are welcomed to join our nursery staff, Erin Favre and Marcus Prince, for mixed-age children’s activities. Children will be dismissed from the sanctuary to children’s activities, or you can drop them off at the nursery before the service.

11:00 am Service

Chalice Children (pre-Kindergarten – 1st Grade) meets in the Forest Room for tbd, in the Tapestry of Faith curriculum series offered by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). To learn more about the curriculum and view specific lessons, visit the UUA’s tbd curriculum page.

Children may move from the Nursery into the Chalice Children group when they are potty-trained and when their family feels they are socially ready to be in a 4 – 5 year-old environment with a structured lesson. Please speak with Kelli McConnell, Coordinator of Religious Education, if you are considering ‘graduating’ your child out of the Nursery.

Seekers (2 – 5 Grades) meets in the Ocean Room for the tbd curriculum, in the UUA Tapestry of Faith curriculum. To learn more about it or to view a specific lesson, visit the UUA’s tbd curriculum page.

Children’s Worship Service (CWS)

On the first Sunday each month, the Kelli McConnell, Coordinator of Religious Exploration, or another RE leader, conducts a worship service just for children with singing led by a Children’s Music Leader, plus typical worship elements, storytelling, and activities. Each CWS introduces the children to the congregation’s monthly theme focus. Parents are welcome to join their children in the Rainbow Room for the CWS  or to stay with older children and youth in the Sanctuary after the younger children are dismissed.

Children’s Charity

Each Sunday during RE Classes or the CWS children have an opportunity to donate to our children’s charity, Food 2 Kids, a program of the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia which assists children who are at risk of hunger by sending them home from school with grocery bags of easy-to-prepare foods. Please encourage your children to bring their change or dollar bills for this love offering.
