Denominational Affairs: Declaration of Conscience

CALLING ALL FRIENDS OF FAITH AND CONSCIENCE: INVITATION FROM UUA PRESIDENT AND UUSC PRESIDENT AND CEO

You are invited to sign your name to the Declaration of Conscience [http://www.uua.org/action/show-love/declaration-conscience] to commit to putting Unitarian Universalist values into action to resist hate, fear and bigotry.  This initiative is part of a new collaborative approach that the UUA and UUSC are undertaking to help our faith movement take its justice work to the next level.

The Rev. Peter Morales (president of the Unitarian Universalist Association) and the Honorable Thomas Andrews (president and CEO of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee) believe the Declaration of Conscience to be an important act to ground UUs in our articles of shared faith in these uncertain times.  We all know that UUs are inclined to walk their own paths, and responding to a request from the UUA may not be for everyone; but you are invited  to read, reflect, and sign the Declaration of Conscience as the spirit moves you to do so.

We–the UUFA Ministry Council in general and your Lay Ministers for Justice and for Connections and Outreach in particular–hope to bring the Declaration of Conscience to a congregational vote at the May meeting.
