Mark Your Calendars! UUFA Retreat Sept. 21-23

———————————————————–

UUFA Congregational Retreat at The Mountain, September 21-23, 2018.

It’s finally the year for our congregation to head to The Mountain Retreat and Learning Centers for our biennial retreat on top of beautiful Little Scaly Mountain near Highlands, NC. We will enjoy good food, much fun, and wonderful fellowship with fellow members and friends of our congregation. Folks attending will participate in worship services, study and reflection, hikes, singing and other musical opportunities, making crafts, quiet time. We will enjoy early mornings on Meditation Rock and spectacular views from the top of the Tower. The UUFA choir will spend part of Saturday in a choir retreat, as they did two years ago.

The weekend will begin with dinner at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 21st, and conclude after lunch on Sunday, Sept. 23rd. Costs remain the same as they were in 2016: $190 per person (double occupancy) which includes lodging and meals; however, if you register prior to July 31st, you’ll receive $20 off the regular adult price. There’s a $70 additional charge for single occupancy. For youth and children accompanying their parent(s)/guardian(s), the rate is $70.00 for those 8-17, and no charge for those under 8 years old. Commuters that come for the day on Saturday will be charged $50, which includes meals.

Online information is available at The Mountain website:

This will take you to a link to online registration. If you’d prefer not to register online, you may call Rachel Kinback at 828-526-5838 to do that over the phone. (She’s usually in the office Monday-Thursday.) Other folks can take your registration information as well. The Mountain no longer offers paper registration forms.
As time progresses, you’ll be offered more information as to workshops, hikes, and other happenings during the weekend. Heather Jensen and Kelli McConnell will be planning activities and events that are child-, youth-, and family-oriented.
Also coming in the not-too-distant future will be information about scholarships that will be available.
We had nearly 100 participants in 2016, and I’m hoping for at least that many this year. Let’s “Make Room” for each other at The Mountain in 2018!
Please let me know if you have ideas for things to offer during the weekend, or want to serve on the planning team. Send ideas to vpsellers @gmail.com.
