EOV Building Update

To those of you who came for our update this past Sunday, thank you for your support!  For those who could not, here is a summary of the information.  The PowerPoint with pictures can be viewed by clicking here.

Most important: the Expanding Our Vision final plans include a new parking lot off Cheatham Road; a large Gathering Hall; a multipurpose room that will seat 50-75 people; a conference room; new administrative offices; two new restrooms; and a sanctuary reconfiguration that increases capacity by about 60, improves lighting and audiovisual control, yet still preserves our beautiful wooded view and curved feeling.

Anticipated Timeline:

January – Submit permits to ACC
February – Close construction loan with State Bank & Trust
March – Contract with CloverLeaf Construction for Guaranteed Maximum Price
April – begin Phase I (construction of new spaces and parking lot)
July – begin Phase 2 (renovation of Fellowship Hall)
September – begin Phase 3 (renovation of sanctuary)
December – Dedication of all expanded and renovated spaces!

During all phases of the work, we will have access to and be able to use much of the building.

Bottom Line: Quite often projects end up over budget, and this one is not an exception.  ACC requirements for sidewalks, boosting the sanctuary HVAC to accommodate increased seating capacity, structures necessary to handle storm water runoff, etc. have all added to the cost. The best estimate at this time is that we will need a $600,000 loan instead of the $500,000 originally planned.  This would increase monthly mortgage payments from $3,200 per month to $3,800.

Good News: To date 162 households have made commitments to the Capital Campaign, exceeding the $1.3 million goal.  AND $760,000 of those commitments have already been paid!

Make a Financial Commitment: If you have not yet made a financial commitment to the building expansion project, or if you would like to add additional money to your original commitment, please click here: UUFA Capital Campaign commitment form.

The Expanding Our Vision Committee remains confident that this is a doable project.
